Corleone isn't apart of the management. :+

So did you get the info from corleone yet, fist?
And do you need help with getting other people to make jingles?
Furthermore I feel the launch of the radio should not be held back by a lack of jingles.... They can be made afterward....

They should also not be required, as that's just inane. If a DJ doesn't feel like broadcasting jingles, they shouldn't have to; however, we could certainly encourage the use of them. :)

I think we really do need them, as shows are very different, so it'll be good to have some things to link all the shows together. We need to be a bit stricter.

I will stand firmly against requiring jingles to be played, Fist, and I think it's actually quite ridiculous you want them to be. I, for one, will not be playing the jingles, as I want to dedicate more time to playing actual music. Plus the fact that the jingles are annoying to hear if you're listening to the radio, as it's just like a commercial. Commercials fail, therefore jingles fail.

Re: Radio Management (task)list - tBKwtWS - 03-22-2009

Why cant shows be different and why do we need to be strict about that, all sounds very boring to me all the same shows.

Re: Radio Management (task)list - TEF - 03-22-2009

After a long conversation with Fist, we've settled things by agreeing to allow the DJs to decide with a poll. :)

Re: Radio Management (task)list - tBKwtWS - 03-22-2009

Jingles can also be arranged after we are on the air, I think dj`s will be more motivated then.
The radio should provide dj's with the chance to make great shows, you can expect them to do that when you start enforcing rules about the content of the show.
As management we should provide the dj's with the opportunity to air great shows, fairly.
If the lack of jingles really bothers the listeners and the ratings drop another show moves up.

Next thing you know we will be enforcing speech to music ratios.

and you dont ask the other management about that first?

I did not mean to leave any of the other managers out of the decision, but the two sides were quite clear. Fist represented the side of requiring jingles and I represented the side of having them as a mere luxury. It seemed only we were truly passionate about the jingles, so I decided to PM Fist about it (which actually started off on a completely unrelated topic). Asking every DJ to cast their vote is also much more equitable than letting the management bicker back and forth until a decision is met. This way it will be a speedy and unbiased decision instead of one made by the leaders. Why not let them decide? :)

Re: Radio Management (task)list - Fist - 03-23-2009

I think that jingles are a good idea, what is the problem with a small advert about donating to the server, or mentioning our new website feature. Also, having some recgonisable sounds being played every so often will make the radio station sound better, as all of our shows are different so having a little reminder that your still listening to LVP Radio every so often is a good idea. We could have a promo for someone elses show? Make our listeners think "that sounds good, and tune in". We will gain more listeners, if we advertise the server they will get more donations/players. I know you may think that they are annoying, but it isn't an ad break, it is just a small message every half an hour or so that reminds you that it is for the server. It makes it sound a little bit more professional, I know you think well a "fun radio" doesn't have to sound professional, but we will impress more listeners. Don't forget that this is a "radio station" so yes, we do have to sound a bit like a radio station sometimes...
