At least a Core i7 965 processor with at least 8 gigabyte of DDR3-16000 memory. A strong RAID-50 array with eight 64 GB Mtron SSD disks really is required too. Next to that, I'd suggest an nVidia GeForce GTX295 video card, a proper audio card (X-Fi platinum?) and a good surround set, at least a Logitech Z-5500. Finally, two blu-ray readers- and burners for optical media would be convenient.

Estroe, if you want to buy a new pc, you would get a good one for ~500€. Thats a lot, but i wouldnt put money in a hardcore outdated system.

Yeah, 500-600€ would do just fine for a good PC

And that can be yours for only $4000+
estroe, it depends on how long you plan on keeping this comp. If your gonna keep it for 4+ years like you did with your current one, then i would suggest to spend some more money on it. If your gonna upgrade within 2 years, then a good 600-700€ PC will do

And I wouldn't go by Peters plan unless you have 1000+ Euros to spend.

Money I don't have
I don't know for how long I will be gaming and all too.
I guess I'll stick to this and play no more but SA-MP and CoD4 or lower-end games.
