I don't get it, so, every time someone kills someone else, there score increases, every time they buy a prop, it increases, etc? It would be nice if there was some kind of in game command to show session statistics of the player though with a list of those things you said, but I can't see how we can calculate an overall score based of these things.

So then just make it one session-based score, and not a completely impossible, as well as totally idiotic, "overall" score.

Re: [Feature] Formatting Player Score - Jay - 09-24-2008

That's what I am thinking, but from a list of those things, how can we get an overall score? Just adding them together will be a mess. It would be better to have a score for each one to compare such things and perhaps for players to compete with each other, however the point was that an overall score for the score board list.

Re: [Feature] Formatting Player Score - Rien - 09-24-2008

I actaully like a score of all things added together :+

for example:

kill = 10 point
death = -5 points
bought prop = 15 points
2 Kill streakĀ  = 15 points
3 kill streak = 20 points
on of your props bought by other player = -5 points
etc.

perhaps this could be resetted every hour or so, and the player with the highest score at the end of that hour gets a cash reward or something? :+

Re: [Feature] Formatting Player Score - Jay - 09-24-2008

Score decreasing after deaths, I like that. I still think it wouldn't be very good if they where added together as in some cases it would be easier to score in other cases. For example, score of buying a property and score from killing somebody. They are two completely different things, it may confuse some people.

Wouldn't it be better to just have scores based off kills? Every kill, +1 point. Every death, -1. Points can even go below 0. That would be nice in my opinion, especially for competing deathmatchers.

Re: [Feature] Formatting Player Score - Rien - 09-24-2008

how would that be confusing? :+

It's just like GTA's score system, you destroy stuff, you get points, kill people? points!
get rid of wanted stars, points!

I guess it would allow RPG players to get high scores too, by buying loads of props, and probably other stuff that would earn you points too :>

Re: [Feature] Formatting Player Score - Jay - 09-24-2008

Yes, but Fry suggested an overall score system to somehow calculate and get points for each one of them. Players might not understand how to gain points. They may get the impression it is from kills for example, buy a property, get a point, and not understand why.

Simple for the win!

Re: [Feature] Formatting Player Score - Chillosophy - 09-24-2008

I agree. If you give scores for everything a player can achieve it just gets confusing and arbitrary. Why would a prop be worth more than a kill? Why would a cheap prop give you just as much points as an expensive one? Just keep it simple and stay with kills/deaths or there will be lots of whining.

Exactly.

I like Jay's idea without the deaths subtracting from their score. Just their kills: very simple, easy to manage, and encourages players to stay on longer.
