Um.. Slow down the vehicle when it runs out of fuel?  :P

Re: Fuel system for vehicles - theHolyCow - 12-04-2006

Yeah that would be great  ;)
The problem is, there is no function in sa-mp to slow a vehicle down.
There is a fuel system in the scripting section of the sa-mp forums, which is used a lot I guess. In that script you are thrown out of your car when you are out of fuel. This is an unacceptable sollution (to me at least), since this would add a little more realism to lvp it should also work in a realistic way.
Perhaps we should rethink the entire concept and work from another angle.

Re: Fuel system for vehicles - Rippance - 12-04-2006

1. Pop the cars tires when it runs out of fuel!

2. (I personally don't really like this one)
Or, decrease players money 5% for every mile (that possible?) or 5-10 seconds the user is in a car without fuel.
This wouldn't be 'fun' tho if users still make alot of money.

3. Freeze the car, not the user. (Possible?)

4. Teleport the car to the nearest gasstation, or give the user a list of gas stations to teleport to, to refill.
Fine for a 'car-rescue' could be something like $100.000, depending on the new money earning system.

So we can have 10 gasstations in 1 street.. :)

I can confirm that the gas pumps are objects, explosive too...
I know this cause MTA's map editing thingy allows you to see all teh objects
...ah... a entire street with explosive gas stations on each side...  :D

1. Not possible (will be in 0.2)
2. I agree with you, but possible
3. Not possible
4. Possible, but how to make sure he refills? Perhaps tp back to the nearest gasstation every minute if it isnt refilled. Still not a very good looking option imo.

Re: Fuel system for vehicles - Rippance - 12-06-2006

He should be forced to refill or step out of his car when he gets teleported to a gas station.
Possible?

Re: Fuel system for vehicles - theHolyCow - 12-06-2006

It is possible to throw someone out of his car every 15 seconds if he doesnt refill. Should be fun  :)

Re: Fuel system for vehicles - Rippance - 12-08-2006

Well that would be ideal to force some1 to refill.
Following situation:
1. Fuel empty
2. User get list of refuel stations , or nearest refuel stations
3. User gets carteleported
4a. User choses to refill. End.
4b. User does not refill.
5. Throw user out of vehicle every 10-20 seconds :D

Re: Fuel system for vehicles - __Katie__ - 01-15-2007

The Las Venturas RPG server already has a fuel system for their cars.  When it runs out, the car just stops.  The player can either get out of the car, or use a command like /fuel 20, which gives the car more fuel.  Might want to check with them to see how it works.

I seen their system some time ago, but I actually did not like it. (Probaly because I couldn't buy any properties to make some money)
