Because you give them a reaction... afaik, if you use MIRC theres a decent nick alert script out there that allows you to have a nickalert but have it disabled on certain channels and people.

My mirc client has it built in which can't be disabled. Well it probs can but can't find the option or script for it so I can disable/unload.

Quit irc now anyway, whether I reconnect is another matter.
